ABB opened a new service workshop for electrical motors in Estonia

ABB opened a new maintenance center for electrical motors at its technology center in Jüri, Estonia, which will enable the company to grow its maintenance services business here significantly. The new service center will be ABB's largest in the Baltics and one of the largest in the Nordics.

The newly opened maintenance center is located in an area of 1,200 square meters and will be able to service even the largest electrical motors. With ABB's maintenance business growth in Estonia, the service will become more accessible to customers in the Baltics.

"The maintenance service is very important for our customers, as preventive maintenance ensures the reliability of electrical machines and a longer equipment lifetime. In contrast, an unexpected breakdown of industrial equipment means a significant loss of time and money," said Jukka Patrikainen, ABB Baltic Countries Managing Director, underlining the importance of the new maintenance center.

"Previously, the maintenance of larger electrical machines had to be carried out on-site at the customer's premises, and the limited facilities did not allow for all the necessary maintenance procedures to be carried out there, such as washing and drying of the electric motor winding, which prolongs the life of the equipment, and if necessary, resin sealing. Now the new maintenance center has all the facilities and equipment to perform full maintenance on even the largest electric motors," said Vitali Boiko, ABB Motion Service Manager, giving an example of the benefits of the newly completed center.

The newly-opened center can service all ABB and non ABB motors, from small-scale electric machines for conveyors to large-scale electric machines for Tallinn Vesi’s waterworks and Tallink ships. "With the new state-of-the-art technology equipped maintenance center, ABB is increasing its capabilities in the maintenance of electrical machines. In the new workshop, we will be able to service electrical machines with shaft heights of up to 1,650 millimeters and weights of up to 50 tonnes," said Boiko, describing the new facilities at the center.

ABB's maintenance center will employ a team of experts who are competent to carry out all maintenance work on electric motors and generators in compliance with all safety requirements.
