PrimeGear ZX2 is part of ABB’s gas-insulated indoor switchgear for primary distribution. PrimeGear ZX2 distributes medium voltage electric power safely and reliably in a variety of demanding utility and industry applications and is fully compliant with the IEC standards and the EU F-gas regulation (EU) 2024/573.


Compact switchgear for demanding applications

A compact medium voltage switchgear with highly technical parameters and ratings built as a single busbar design, based on natural origin gases (SF6-free). Due to the low-pressure design, PrimeGear ZX2 SF6 gas free can remain in service up to the point of repair, even in the unlikely event of a leak.

Reliable and flexible

  • Compact and modular design for space optimization and the possibility for wall-mounting.
  • All panels are routinely tested, gas-filled pressure and relief duct installed in the factory – eliminating gas-work onsite – and enabling faster installation.
  • Very low maintenance switchgear as all high voltage parts are permanently protected in a gas tank from soiling, humidity, entry of foreign bodies and other environmental influences.
  • Due to the low-pressure design, PrimeGear ZX2 SF6 gas free can remain in service up to the point of repair, even in the unlikely event of a leak.
  • Automation and control features through current and voltage sensors and RTUs and monitoring and diagnostics capabilities (temperature, gas, partial discharge, etc).

  • Wide range of monitoring and diagnostic features for safe and reliable operations. All switching devices are motor-operated and can be controlled remotely.
