- ABB Electrification improves resilience as vivo expands production at locations across Asia
- Safe, efficient, reliable ABB power supply supports 24-7 production of 200 million smartphone per year
ABB is supplying an innovative energy supply solution to enhance safety, productivity, and operational efficiency, at six vivo smartphone manufacturing sites. ABB Electrification Smart Power is supporting electronics manufacturers as they expand operations across Asia, delivering power supply resilience and reliability for critical operations.
vivo is the world's fifth largest smartphone brand with annual production capacity of nearly 200 million smartphones. The company has headquarters in China and a worldwide network of nine R&D sites and seven production facilities. ABB’s solution will be installed at six vivo production facilities and data centers across China and India.
James Zhao, senior vice president, ABB China Ltd., said: “As electronics manufacturers evolve their global footprints, ABB is delivering comprehensive electrical products and solutions that enable their operations to become more resilient and reliable. Our advanced electrification technologies and solutions provide the intelligent controls and digital capabilities that drive continuous improvements in productivity, energy efficiency and sustainability.”
ABB is partnering with electrical engineering Renda Group on this major three-year program. The hardware solution is based on ABB’s licensed MNS 3.0 low-voltage switchgear with Emax 2 circuit breakers and intelligent controls. Advanced digital capabilities, including fault diagnostics and real-time analysis, will enable Vivo to make its energy management and maintenance work intelligent.
Haijin Wu, General Manager, Renda Group said: “vivo’s core objective was to secure a safe, efficient and reliable power supply to support the growth and resilience of its global operations. The energy distribution solution we developed with ABB provides reliability for vivo’s 24-7 operations, with digital capabilities that will ensure the system continues to deliver peak performance long into the future.”
Along with market-leading innovation and expertise, partnering with ABB has also allowed vivo to benefit from centralized procurement which is expected to reduce supply and services costs by as much as 30 percent over the three-year period.
