ABB is launching a new cloud-based offering, ADAM, to enable fleet management of protection and control devices. With the easy-to-use, cybersecure end-to-end ABB solution, customers gain complete visibility and control of their fleet from one place that provides useful insights to support decision-making and maximize performance.
With ADAM customers benefit from improved device management with a full view of the protection and control devices and complete visibility and control of data. Users can connect to the protection and control devices in a substation remotely and manage the devices effectively; easily modify and update them and gather information from disturbance recordings and fault records. With the full visibility of the status of the substation comes also the possibility for fault analysis of the whole installation, providing data to support decision-making. In addition, ADAM also offers reliable storage for configurations and logs. Taking ADAM into use is straightforward, end users simply have to log in to the cloud service to get started.
“With ADAM customers can manage their protection assets effectively, which contributes to operational efficiency” said Sami Raitakoski, Global Product Group Manager at ABB. “With full visibility of the status of a substation you gain a better view of what’s happening. With this information you can react quickly, when necessary, as well as identify emerging requirements for network extensions and modifications.”
The first customer installations have been running since 2018. The development teams have refined and validated the technology in response to the feedback received from the pilot customers.
In this release ADAM can be used in combination with ABB’s Smart Substation Control and Protection SSC600 or the standalone software version, SSC600 SW. Support for additional products will be part of upcoming releases.
