A1 Electric Motors becomes newest ABB Motors Australia Authorised Value Provider

  • A1 Electric Motors is now an authorised Channel Parter to supply, install, and maintain a range of ABB motor technology in Australia
  • A1 Electric Motors is already an Authorized Value Provider (AVP) for the ABB Motion Services business, supporting their customers with the entire lifecycle and modernisation requirements of their equipment
  • The partnership fortifies ABB’s mission to help customers around the globe to maximise uptime, extend product lifetime, and enhance the performance and energy efficiency of their motor-driven applications

Based in Northern Victoria, A1 Electric Motors has already established a long professional history spanning more than 17 years supplying and supporting ABB’s motors, drives, and ABB Ability™ digital technologies to customers across Australia.

They continue to stock, supply, and service an expansive range of ABB’s IEC low voltage motors, ultra-premium synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motors, and Smart Sensors for remote condition monitoring.

A1 Electric Motors has already experienced success as ABB Australia’s National Distribution Partner for SynRM motor and drive packaged solutions, with IE5 efficiency which consume less energy, allowing users to reduce their operational costs and achieve their environmental targets through reduced carbon emissions.

Designed to be a partnership with a purpose, the agreement aims to support ABB’s intention to provide authorised motors partners with the technology and supported tools to facilitate an expansive offering of the most comprehensive portfolio of low voltage motors, and make them more accessible to the market.

"Becoming an ABB AVP means a lot to us. It symbolises our commitment to quality and positions us prominently in the motor sales and services sector,” says Chris Cheong, Director at A1 Electric Motors."

A1 Electric Motors will have access to recurring factory training, integrated service sales and delivery tools, and technical and pricing support.  This will help to safeguard the best experience for customers when it comes to product quality, availability, and after sales support.

“Becoming an ABB AVP means a lot to us. It symbolises our commitment to quality and positions us prominently in the motor sales and services sector,” says Chris Cheong, Director at A1 Electric Motors.

"As electric motor use grows worldwide thanks to a heightened awareness of the need to decarbonise and business needs to increase production, ABB's electric motor range has really supported our growth into this energy efficiency space.

Whether we’re delivering ABB’s [synchronous reluctance] SynRM or low-voltage motor and drive packages, we’ve been able to significantly reduce electricity consumption, improve reliability and cut down on maintenance time and costs for clients working in numerous sectors across Australia.”

Chris says that there’s a tangible benefit for his company to become part of the ABB Value Provider network when it comes to being able to offer ABB motors to A1 Electric Motors' customers.

"As an AVP, we combine ABB's global reach and corporate strength with our local know-how. This partnership ensures our clients benefit from technical expertise, and efficient, reliable support, throughout the motor's lifecycle.  From engineering the solution and fitting it, through to authorised servicing for the entire equipment lifecycle.”

A1 Electric Motors has already experienced some significant project milestones that stand out in their businesses history that include ABB motors.  These include installing Australia’s first ABB SynRM motor technology at the Campbell’s Soup Shepparton plant.  The motor and drive package has resulted in a considerable drop in energy costs of almost $15,000 AUD annually. CO2 savings of approximately 131 tonnes annually have also been achieved.

“I am proud of the relationship that A1 and ABB have forged over the past 17 years. We have witnessed significant changes and technological developments, which, with ABB's support, we've been able to harness and offer to our customers," says Chris.

In looking to the future, he continues, “we're excited about upcoming SynRM projects where we’ll be utilising new data analysis tools like energy appraisals that allow us to collate the client’s data to calculate their return on investment and potential for energy savings.

After installing the ABB motors, we’ll then have the opportunity to issue detailed reports showing these clients tangible results where the benefits of installing energy efficient technology in their operations are clearly apparent."

Rory Paltridge, General Manager for ABB Motors in Australia says, “working closely with ABB to deliver and maintain electric motors throughout this period, A1 Electric Motors have honed a range of valuable services with the expertise and dedicated problem solving required to overcome the specific challenges for their clients.

By leveraging A1’s technical know-how and market-leading service capabilities, you can ensure you're getting advice from a complete team of skilled field service engineers. Thanks to their locally available stock of motors, clients can rely on fast product delivery.  This comprehensive offering means operations can run reliably, efficiently, and profitably.”
