Variable speed drives (VSDs) continue to become more user friendly. One of those items is to have customized messages pop up. This is incredibly helpful because it allows the VSD to clearly identify why it isn’t running (i.e. which safety opened) and even what to do (i.e. “Reset safety 1B in Panel 2B” or “Call Person ABC at Company XYZ”).
These messages are easily configured in the VSD via its control panel. They can be configured faster via laptop USB connection or via phone/tablet over Bluetooth to the VSD.

I did this all with the standard control panel, no special programs needed. And if you want to reproduce something similar for your next special date, here is how I did it:
Drive name: To my wife
Set up an External Event 1 on DI3 as a fault
Label: Happy Anniversary
Instruction line 1: To the love of my life!
Instruction line 2: Dinner is at Crawfish Junction
Contact info on fault: Here is to 18 more years!
Although in hindsight, maybe I shouldn’t have picked a “Fault” for the anniversary message screen. The first thing she asked was what she did to cause a Fault 9081. I told her she was an External Event on my life. My joke went over like a lead balloon...
