More than 200 partners from 26 countries across the Middle East and Africa gathered during ABB Electrification’s Channel Partner event to discuss the region’s electrification market and megatrends.
“It was the right moment to meet with our Channel Partners in the region as we are seeing the rise of renewable energies, the expansion of data centers and need for energy security and efficiency. It’s a $10 billion market opportunity for ABB and its partners.”
Giampiero Frisio, President of ABB Electrification
The region’s megatrends
Discussions centered around the region mega trends, and how ABB and its partners can collaborate and innovate to support the energy transition and improve energy efficiency across segments.
Decarbonization of the electricity:
- The Middle East is seeing rapid investment in renewable energy, particularly in solar and wind, driven by the Saudi Green Initiative and similar programs in Oman, Egypt, and Jordan. These initiatives underscore the shift toward cleaner, diversified energy sources.
- “Climate change is the name of the game," said Dr Saidi, President of Nasser Saidi & Associates and guest speaker of the event. "Private and public fundings need to be mobilized to accelerate investment in and development of renewable energy and climate technology across the region, one of the most climate stressed globally.”
- From power protection to efficient energy distribution and management, we explore how to keep the electricity flowing where and when it’s needed.
Infrastruture for AI, cloud computing and 5G technologies:
- The UAE and Saudi Arabia are emerging as regional hubs for hyperscale data centers, fueled by increased adoption of AI, cloud computing, and 5G technologies. Partnerships with global technology leaders are driving demand for energy-efficient and scalable data center infrastructure.
- With our partners, we can help boost energy efficiency, save operational costs and protect uptime. Read more here.
Electrification of transportation:
- Convenient charging is key for electric vehicle (EV) adoption. This requires investment in smart grid infrastructure to support reliable, resilient power for charging stations.
Smarter Buildings:
- Buildings account for 26% of global greenhouse gas emissions. There's pressure to make them greener. The industry needs to modernize old buildings and ensure new ones are future proof. Smarter buildings improve sustainability and ensure safe, reliable energy distribution.
- We are also seeing a growing adoption of IoT and AI technologies in industrial and commercial applications, with significant demand for data-driven energy management solutions.
