ABB has added UniGear ZS2 switchgear to the UniGear Digital family - extending the rated voltage rating to up to 36 kV. With this addition, the entire single busbar portfolio of the UniGear medium-voltage (MV) switchgear family becomes available in the digital version.
ABB pioneered in the digital switchgear market launching the first MV digital switchgear in 2014 with UniGear Digital. Since the launch, the company has been continuously adding to the digital portfolio for the renowned UniGear switchgear family. The digital solution takes full advantage of well-proven components: current and voltage sensors, and Relion® protection and control relays with IEC 61850 digital communication, to ensure a reliable and efficient electrical network.
Adding UniGear ZS2 as an expansion further strengthens the portfolio. The new addition completes the UniGear Digital portfolio offering rated voltage of up to 36 kV. UniGear ZS2 Digital is used to distribute electric power in a variety of demanding applications, such as in utility substations, power plants and chemical plants. The switchgear panels are available as a single busbar, back-to-back solution.
“We are pleased to introduce this addition to the UniGear Digital family” said Marco Tellarini, Product Group Managing Director in ABB’s Distribution Solutions division. "Digital switchgear solutions meet the increasing demands for a smarter electric network and are able to take on shorter project cycles, frequent changes, and meet stringent cost-efficiency requirements.”
UniGear Digital offers the perfect combination of highest reliability and maximum safety for personnel, operations and the environment. The advanced switchgear solution addresses important requirements: flexibility, increased process and energy efficiency, lower cost of operation and maximized integration, reliability and safety.
UniGear Digital is now available for the following switchgear types: UniGear ZS1, UniGear ZS2, UniGear 550, UniGear 500R and UniGear MCC.
