Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said “Music is liquid architecture; Architecture is frozen music.” “This eloquent phrase inspired us to name our video series ‘Frozen Music’” says Katrin Förster, International Key Account Manager, Architects and Interior Designers.
“We are excited to now embark on a new Season, travelling the world to explore more unique building projects and the architects behind them.”
The second season launched with Episode 13, whisking us away to Chengdu in China. Here we delve into the design of Tianfu Airport, whose grand opening took place this summer. The architects of CSWADI (China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute) took inspiration from ancient symbolism of the Shu dynasty in Sichuan to create the remarkable form and positioning of the 4 airport terminals and administrative buildings: Project director Qiu Xiaoyong describes the airport-design as “four immortal birds carrying the sun”.
Each of the short videos in the series demonstrates how the best of architectural design and building technology work together to help us to realize a future of carbon neutral buildings, whilst enhancing comfort and safety for occupants, thus creating safer, healthier, and inspirational buildings .
