New single-phase power supplies reduce harmful CO₂ emissions

New single-phase power supplies reduce harmful CO₂ emissions

  • ABB’s next generation of CP-S.1 power supplies provide a complete offering with 24 V DC output voltage from 72 W to 960 W
  • Minimizing energy losses and cutting costs with up to 94 percent efficiency
  • Future proof, compact design delivers installation space savings of up to 50 percent

ABB launches its new CP-S.1 range of primary switch mode 24 V DC power supplies, combining efficiency and reliability with an unrivalled power-to-space ratio.

With an efficiency of up to 94 percent, the CP-S.1 24/40.0 power supply is able to generate a 1.4 ton CO2 saving over a typical lifetime of ten years – compared to a device with 92 percent efficiency. This is equivalent to the same amount of CO2 required to charge 160,000 smartphones. The pioneering range also offers an unrivalled power-to-space ratio – delivering space savings of up to 50 percent – and thanks to its high efficiency and reduced power loss credentials, is a cost-saving power supply solution for large scale applications.

CP-S.1’s extra power reserve functionality provides additional power of up to 150 percent for five seconds, enabling heavy loads to be started reliably. The certified AC and DC input voltage range is suitable for worldwide installation and has extensive global approvals.

Christian Nickenig, global product management for ABB’s Smart Power division, comments: “Power sources that are both highly reliable and energy efficient are in widespread demand for applications worldwide. This new, next generation of power supplies have not just been designed to help minimize costly losses, but considerably boost efficiency levels, while saving valuable space at the same time. They are the complete 24 V DC offering, with the added ability to reduce harmful CO2 emissions.”

The robust design, which incorporates a PCBA coating and marine certification, makes the CP-S.1 power supplies ideal for OEM machine building, marine, solar and wind applications. While the small footprint, efficiency levels and industry-leading features, such as overheat protection, active power correction and the broadly certified AC and DC input range, make them ideal for applications in robotics, materials handling, packaging, EV charging, food and beverage, genset, UPS and renewables.

Together with CP-C.1, CP-E, CP-D, and three-phase CP-T range, ABB provides complete and suitable power supply solutions for all applications - from high-end to economic; from industry control to building segments.

More information on the CP-S.1 power supply range and overall range of power supplies is available on the ABB website.
