Slimmest RCBO is big on performance

  • Protects the same number of circuits from over currents and earth leakage currents in a smaller space
  • Enables panel size reduction for space saving in homes
  • Reduces cooling needs

At only 17.6mm wide, making it narrower than an American Dime or a British one-pound coin, ABB’s space saving DS301C Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent Protection (RCBO) delivers greater protection within a smaller space, with reduced cooling needs.

Combining the functionality of its miniature circuit breakers (MCB) with the proven technology of its residual circuit current breakers (RCCB), ABB has created a space-saving, electromechanical RCBO that maintains continuity of service for all non-affected power circuits, when an over current or earth leakage current is identified.

Being one module wide, the RCBO allows the enclosure space to be smaller, so that panel sizes can be reduced, protecting an electrical circuit, such as a socket or lighting, with only one module. This generates space saving benefits for a range of installations including small to mid-size flats, home extensions and retrofitting.

With identical protection and features to ABB’s larger circuit breakers this slimmer RCBO, one of only two on the market, offers reduced power-loss performance to limit unwanted heat within the enclosure, a dedicated front face earth fault indicator and easy identification of any performance issues, to minimize disruption to the electricity supply.

Jean-Philippe Garzon, Global Product Manager RCBO for ABB Electrification’s Smart Buildings division comments: “Space saving is an increasingly important criteria for electrical installations, which is why we are always looking for ways to miniaturize our devices without compromising performance. When designing our slimmest RCBO to date, we wanted to create a breaker that was the width of just one module, and we achieved this by combining the expertise and functionality of our existing portfolio of RCBOs with MCB Unibis technology.”

“By making electrical products smaller, we can better serve the needs of the construction and residential markets. Slimmer components are ideal when space is tight and allow room for additional circuit extensions or home/building automation at a later date.”

The slim design DS301C is an independent voltage RCBO Phase + Neutral.
