The GCP system is a completely integrated system consisting of excitation, synchronization and protection, offered at a competitive market price. The purpose of the GCP solution is to be engineered and manufactured at the lowest possible cost and with minimum risk in project execution.

GCP is equipped with market leading ABB products which offer excellent performance under all conditions. The GCP system is well proven and designed for the market, guaranteeing high reliability, durability and flawless operation.

The high level of modularity allows easy adaption to meet various customer needs and requirements.

ABB’s GCP system is developed to cover all the requirements in the industry, including small to large generators for industrial, oil, gas and petrochemical installations.
Fastest excitation system available, due to PEC controller technology implemented in Unitrol6080 (i.e. voltage deviation due to rapidly load changes).
Redundancy and module based power supply.
ABB Relion® has developed a standard set of protective functions to ensure the highest performance of protection for the generator, prime mover and the switchgear. The set of functions is based on customer requirements, IEC and decades of operation and experience. These functions require a calculation of the existing installation. ABB offers two solutions:

1. Re-calculation of existing relay setting plan, and relay values.

2. Power system flow analysis and simulation based on installed equipment. This gives the plant an opportunity to include new equipment installed since the previous protection relay plan was created. High total harmonic distortion in the grid has to be taken into account.

3. Synchrotatct 5/6 products are used for automatic and manual synchronization of generators with power networks and for paralleling of synchronous lines. The Synchrotact series are one of the world leaders in reliable/safe operation for 50 years.
