The Commander C250 process controller was launched in October 1997. It enabled control of a single PID loop using a number of control outputs (for example, analog, digital or relay). The standard C250 was available with auto tune and simple, limited-segment ramp / soak profiling capabilities.
In September 2010, the C250 was superseded by the ControlMaster CM30 universal process controller. The CM30 uses ABB’s common instrumentation platform HMI and features a new, full color TFT display enabling both control loops in the new dual control template to be displayed simultaneously in a single operator view. The CM30 also features ethernet communications, profile control and bank control functionality as well as the features previously available on the C250. All features are accessible via the front panel of the controller without the need for PC configuration software.
