The C501 process controller was launched in December 1997. It enabled control of a single PID loop using a number of application templates (for example, single loop, auto / manual station and analog back up). The C501 was available with a comprehensive I/O capability, math & logic equations among other software features.
In September 2010 the C501 was superseded by the ControlMaster CM50 universal process controller. The CM50 uses ABB’s common instrumentation platform HMI and features a new, full color TFT display enabling uniquely customizable operator displays. The CM50 also features ethernet communications, profile control and bank control functionality as well as the features previously available on the C501. All features are accessible through the front panel of the controller without the need for PC configuration software.
