Wireless Safety Solution in North Sea

ABB is working along with GasSecure in developing the world’s first of its kind SIL Compliant Wireless Hydrocarbon Leakage Detection System. Currently, this technology is going through a technology qualification program at the Gullfaks-C production platform operated by Statoil in the North Sea. The time for installation, integration and commissioning of the system was a fraction of what has been the norm for wired systems and shows one of the many advantages of implementing wireless detection.

The results so far have shown that wireless gas detectors have comparable performance to the existing wired ones regarding accuracy and response time.
