McKinsey & Company

Bernd Heid is a Senior Partner with McKinsey & Company and is based in Cologne, Germany. Bernd joined the firm in 2000 and is the global leader of the McKinsey Hydrogen Service Line, where he has led numerous projects along the full hydrogen value chain. He leads McKinsey’s Future of Mobility collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the firm’s work on the collaboration with the Hydrogen Council, where he co-authored, among others, the “Hydrogen Scaling-up report” and the “Cost Roadmap”. In addition, he is a member of the Leadership group of McKinsey’s Global Automotive Sector and leads McKinsey’s commercial vehicle segment globally.

Bernd holds a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the RWTH Aachen and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.

Grzegorz Pawelec joined Hydrogen Europe in May 2019, where he is developing the Intelligence Service, coordinates the Funding and Financing Working Group with focus on future IPPP on hydrogen under the Horizon Europe framework and the ETS Innovation Fund. Grzegorz is also involved in the Maritime Working Group, which focuses on hydrogen’s role in the decarbonisation of shipping.

Before joining Hydrogen Europe Grzegorz has, for 15 years, been a professional business consultant, specializing in heat and power generation, renewable energy and alternative fuels like LNG and hydrogen. He holds a MSc Economics and Finance from Gdansk University of Technology.

Prior to joining Ballard, Hjorth worked for Falck A/S in Denmark where she worked closely with large bus & truck fleet operators on implementing eco-drive and telematics solutions throughout Scandinavia. She holds a degree in International Business Communication & Marketing from Aalborg University (Denmark) and an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from ESADE Business and Law School (Spain).
