ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co., Ltd. (ABB Xiamen Low Voltage factory) celebrated its 25th anniversary with the theme ‘Let’s write the future. Together’. James Zhao, lead business manager of ABB Electrification in China, Giampiero Frisio, Head of ABB Smart Power, Marco Tellarini, Head of Global Product Group Air Insulated Medium Voltage and Low Voltage Switchgear, attended the ceremony with more than 200 guests including top officials from Xiamen Municipal Government, and customers and partners from all over the country. They celebrated the company’s development along with its local community and its achievements at becoming a manufacturing benchmark in electrification in China.

The ABB Xiamen Low Voltage factory was established in 1994 and is a part of the ABB Electrification business in China. It is the only manufacturing base for MNS® low-voltage switchgear and Emax 2 air circuit breaker in China and is one of the world’s largest producers of low-voltage equipment. At the end of 2018, ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co., Ltd. moved into the ABB Xiamen Hub, an innovation and manufacturing hub with a total investment of approximately $300 million, to improve its productivity, its core competences, and become a world-class factory.
ABB Xiamen Low Voltage factory is an example of a production facility evolving into a digital factory. The company has introduced many advanced systems to integrate and co-ordinate elements including sales, project management, sourcing, production, quality, after sales service, controlling, human resources, etc., to ensure a holistic approach to the business. The data driven seamless coordination of operations with advanced production lines, equipped with robots and radio frequency identification technology (RFID), have improved production capacity and quality and speeded up manufacturing processes, which has helped ensured on-time delivery and short lead times.

ABB Xiamen Low Voltage factory has established a local R&D center for MNS low-voltage switchgear and air circuit breakers with more than 700 experts and specialists, supported by ABB’s leading products and technologies, significantly improving its local R&D capabilities.
At the event, ABB unveiled four new products, including the PCS100 AVC active voltage conditioner, ABB Ability™ Condition Monitoring for electrical systems (CMES), the upgraded Emax 2 low-voltage breaker and Emax 2 / E9 air circuit breaker, to help customers build a stable and smart power distribution system, and realize equipment interconnections, energy efficiency improvements, as well as predictive maintenance.
With deep industry expertise and leading digital technologies, ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co., Ltd. provides one-stop solutions and life-cycle services for customers in power, industry, transport and infrastructure.
