The 100.000th switchgear was produced for the Dutch distribution company Alliander as part of the ALLIANDER OUDEHASKE project, for which ABB has delivered 18 panels of UniGear ZS1 (24 kV).
The satisfaction with the deliveries and the professional approach of our specialists resulted additionally in the signing of a long-term frame agreement, which ensures Alliander a high level of support from ABB. The excellent cooperation with our colleagues from ABB FES in Holland also contributed to the signing of the frame agreement. In total, ABB Medium Voltage Products Brno has supplied Alliander already with 25 substations with more than 500 UniGear ZS1 panels.

The Dutch holding company Alliander, based in Arnhem, operates energy networks distributing gas and electricity throughout the Netherlands. Using its own energy infrastructure this company supplies electricity and gas to 3.3 million customers daily. Alliander company is one of the most important customer for ABB Medium Voltage Products Brno.
ABB Medium Voltage Products in Brno (Electrification Products Medium Voltage)
The history of Brno's plant dates back to 1887. Currently, ABB Medium Voltage Products Brno manufactures air-insulated medium voltage switchgears, instrument transformers and sensors. Part of the plant is a service unit for medium voltage products, a research and development centre including an accredited testing laboratory for low, medium and high voltage. The plant covers an area of 144 000 m2 and factory employs more than 1500 employees.
The first switchgear type UniGear was produced in ABB Brno in the year 2000. Since then, Brno has become the lead centre for the production as well as for the development of primary air-insulated switchgears. Product portfolio - largest in the ABB Group - includes UniGear ZS1, UniGear 550, UniGear 500R and UniGear MCC. The latest addition to the portfolio is an innovative solution called UniGear Digital, which was developed at ABB Medium Voltage Products Brno.
