FT-NIR process analyzer for hydrocarbon and petrochemical applications

The FTPA2000-HP260X is a versatile multichannel fibre-optic based process FT-NIR analyzer platform suitable for hydrocarbon and petrochemical applications, designed for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The HP260X series Process FT-IR analyzers are designed for real-time, online process monitoring and process control of hydrocarbon streams. The analyzers are ideally suited for analyzing gasoline and diesel fuel streams in the refining industry to determine chemical and physical properties for final product blending optimization, as well as wider ranging applications including Crude Distillation Units, Heavy Oil Upgrading Units, Hydrocracking Units and Base Oil Units.

Based on FT-IR (Fourier-transform infrared) technology, the HP260 analyzers offer superior reliability, rapidity, and flexibility. The HP260 analyzers provide exceptionally high stability, sensitivity and photometric accuracy. This results in robust calibration models with excellent transferability & maintainability, reducing development and ownerships costs as well as yielding outstanding analytical repeatability.

 Key Features:

  • Fully-integrated multi-channel fibre-optic FT-NIR  analyzer in a one-box Ex certified enclosure including user interface, data controller and I/O interface
  • Complete with industrial PC and touch-screen flat display
  • Up to 8 separate analysis channels with dedicated cells and detectors for each channel (cells, probes, fibres and detectors may be different for each channel allowing maximum application flexibility and multi-tasking)
  • TE-cooled detectors (option) for maximum sensitivity and fastest response
  • Easier to install and commission
  • Small footprint with reduced space requirement, wall-mount or floor-standing rack (option)
  • No need for additional PLC controllers or interfaces
  • Intuitive, easy-to-use interface and application set-up
  • Flexible, rapid analysis with zero deadtime between channels

The FTPA2000-HP260X includes:

  •  A one-box solution for Hazardous Area operation
  • Includes User Interface, Touch Screen, Data Controller, space for all I/O hardware and functions
  • All in one compact enclosure for easy, low-utility Analyzer House installation
  • Based on the core ABB FT-NIR Michelson cube-corner interferometer technology
  • Maintains the same performance level and calibration transfer capability as the other ABB FT-NIR analyzers
  • Can be interfaced to a wide range of sample interface devices
  • The FTPA2000-HP260X is certified to meet ATEX Category II Gas
  • The Fiber optic cables and sample interface (probes / sample cells..) are certified to be installed in ATEX Category I for Gas and Dust
    • II (1)/2 G Ex e ib mb px [op is Ga] IIC T4 Gb
    • II (1) D [Ex op is Da] IIIC

  • Compatible with both low-OH silica and ZrF4 fibre optics; allows use for black product applications, crude oil, bunker oil, heavy fuel oil blending as well as standard light hydrocarbon applications.
  • Up to 8 separate analysis channels with capability for different flow-cell temperatures, path-lengths, ranges and detectors for each channel
  • TE-cooled detectors (option) for maximum sensitivity and fastest response

Depending on the detailed sampling and sample interface approach used for specific projects, any or all of the following additional items may be required (see price list for selection):

  • remote fiber-optic temperature controlled sample cell enclosure, or in-line transmission probes fast loop sample conditioning system, wash/reference or validation fluid system
  • Each sampling channel on the FTPA2000-HP260X will require specification and selection of fibre optics (type, length, encapsulation) and NIR detector (type, room-temperature or TE-cooled)
