The most modern mine in Poland

Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka, a leading producer in Poland, will soon be one of the first mining plants in the country to use services based on advanced data analysis in the production process.

Working in collaboration with ABB, Bogdanka will develop an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution at their plant that will connect various systems included in ABB Ability™ digital portfolio, as well as other devices and services. The outcome will be a tool for improvement of decision-making processes, predictive maintenance, efficient use of resources and operational coordination in real time.

Effective predictive diagnostics program

An integrated intelligent solution will allow the engineering team at Bogdanka to predict failures, solve machine and equipment failures and reduce equipment downtime, thus reducing high maintenance costs of mining assets. Cost optimization is particularly important for the company's plans to increase production.

“Maintenance of mining equipment is a very dynamic process, because the conditions of both production and machine operation are constantly changing and require continuous evaluation analysis. An effective predictive diagnostics program should allow for early detection of disturbances. This will enable scheduling of all machine and equipment servicing at the most convenient time, from both a financial and a production perspective," explains Anna Wujec, ABB Ability expert in ABB Poland.

Advanced data analysis for decision support systems

As part of the project, ABB will implement several digital applications that are part of the ABB Ability™ MineOptimize portfolio, including the ABB AbilityTM 800xA control system, ABB AbilityTM Knowledge Manager, ABB Ability Asset Vista Condition Monitoring, and ABB Ability™ remote assistance and predictive maintenance services.
