Whenever a major disaster occurs in China, ABB always demonstrates its deep concern by delivering timely support to the disaster stricken areas and also sends technical personnel to provide professional service.

ABB donated RMB 2,000,000 to Ya’an earthquake-hit areas

After the earthquake of 7.0 happened in Ya’an, ABB donated RMB 2,000,000 to the earthquake areas through China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. Meanwhile ABB called employee donation for “Love Package” to local students. There were altogether 5,604 ABB employees who donated over RMB700, 000 in total to the disaster area of Ya’an Earthquake. Before Children's Day, 4,906 packages had been sent to the schools. The company donation will support the reconstruction of teaching and learning centers in 20 schools, as well as the healthy development of youth in earthquake areas.

ABB donated 2.6 million RMB to Yushu victims

After the earthquake of 7.1 in Yushu on April 14 2010, ABB immediately called for donations from staff. In total, the company donated 2.6 million RMB to the earthquake stricken area, including 1.03 million contributed by ABB staff. The donations were used to finance the reconstruction of Yushu County No. 2 Ethnic Middle School through Qinghai Red Cross Society. The school completed its post-earthquake reconstruction in March 2012.

ABB donated 11.45 million RMB to Wenchuan victims

After the earthquake of 8 in Wenchuan on May 12 2008, ABB quickly provided support for the rescue and reconstruction efforts and has accumulatively donated 11.45 million RMB towards residents and relief programs of the local power facilities in the disaster stricken area. The contributions were used to support post-earthquake reconstruction projects in the Wenchuan area of Sichuan province through China Red Cross. In April 2010, the Gaoping Middle School in Guanghan and Boai Primary School in Zhongjiang were completed. In Autumn 2011, Daqiao Primary School in Tongshan was completed reconstruction.

ABB donated RMB 1 million to help victims in China’s snow-stricken regions

Starting from late January 2008, the central and southern regions of China had been over ridden by heavy snow. ABB China donated RMB 1 million to buy warm clothes, quilts, candles and other living necessities for needy families through China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. In the meantime, ABB provided technical support to customers in power system.

ABB donated RMB 1million for SARS Relief in Beijing and Shanghai

On May 20, 2003, ABB donated 1.5 million RMB to Beijing and Shanghai Municipal Government in appreciation to the front line medical personnel who risked their lives by working in the SARS designated hospitals in Beijing and Shanghai.
