Supporting education

As talents are one of ABB’s greatest assets, ABB attaches much importance to education. ABB provided scholarship and other assistance to talented but needy university students in China to fulfill their dreams. ABB also carries out cooperation with vocational schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Chongqing, Guangdong and other places to develop the training of young technicians, help the poor students. At the same time, ABB helps establish rural schools in Shanxi, Shangxi, Sichuan, Qinghai provinces.

The New Great Wall project

Since 2005, ABB has donated 1 million RMB annually to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation to help poor students to finance their college education. Up to date, ABB’s donation has financed 2,000 electrical engineering students from more than 40 universities in China. At the same time, ABB often communicate with students through lectures and company visits.

Vocational education project

ABB cooperated with vocational schools in Xiamen and Chongqing to set up “ABB Class”, to provide training center to teachers and to donate money to poor students. In 2013, the project expanded to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and other places and six schools have received support.

ABB Jurgen Dormann Foundation

Since 2008, ABB has provided Dormann scholarship to poor and outstanding students all around the world, including those from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Xi'an Jiaotong University. Besides financial support, students can obtain learning opportunities from ABB headquarters in Switzerland.

Other education projects

Since 2000, ABB has donated RMB100,000 annually to the Xiamen Education Foundation to help those students who perform well in Xiamen college entrance examination and to help poor students get into the University. From 2009, ABB has donated RMB100,000 annually to "Red Phoenix Project" in Shanxi, helping female college students who have economic difficulties to complete their studies.

Education and training center

ABB cooperated with many colleges and universities to establish laboratories and training centers. Besides, ABB is in cooperation with schools to carry out electrical automation professional lessons and occupation health and safety activities.
