Power and Energy Management System

ABB’s Power and Energy Management System (PEMS™) is the core of a vessel’s combined power and control system. It ensures optimal use of the vessel’s total power resources in a safe, energy efficient and environmentally-friendly manner.


The PEMS™ is closely integrated with the electrical system by use of high speed digital communication within ABB’s switchboards, protection devices and controllers. This simplifies the information flow between the switchboard and the PEMS™, giving the end user full control. Where energy storage solutions or other alternative power sources are installed onboard, engine loading is optimized to suit.
