Automation Builder software download

Automation Builder is available in Basic, Standard and Premium editions meeting the needs of small projects and managing the challenges of many and large projects for OEM and system integrators.

Start working immediately: After installation, on the first start-up of Automation Builder you can choose from different licenses:

  • Free 30-day trial license – unlocking standard and premium features
  • Free Basic edition

  • Purchased standard or premium license

    • Licenses can be activated, removed and transferred anytime
    • Availability of network licenses for installation on a license server

Life cycle support: Starting with Automation Builder 2.6, side-by-side installation of individual versions is allowed. For access to former versions, we recommend to install Automation Builder 2.5 and to include the required previous version profiles (Automation Builder 2.4 and earlier) into this installation.

Latest Automation Builder version (recommended): Automation Builder 2.8.2

Before starting with Automation Builder 2.8, please consider important installation options prior to installation.

Side-by-side installation
Automation Builder allows side-by-side installation. During the installation process it is not possible to select previous versions to be embedded into Automation Builder 2.8. If access to Automation Builder version 2.5 or earlier is required, we recommend to first install Automation Builder 2.5 (optionally including previous versions) and to install Automation Builder 2.8 afterwards. Download links for Automation Builder 2.5 can be accessed via the Automation Builder 2.5 section below. Automation Builder 2.6 and Automation Builder 2.7 can be installed or uninstalled independently of Automation Builder 2.8.

Hint: For technical reasons there are some shared components across the different Automation Builder versions. Even despite the side-by-side installation of Automation Builder versions, these components will continue to be shared. Examples of shared components are AC500 V2 libraries or Codesys V2 engineering and gateway.

32-bit version
Automation Builder is still available as 32-bit version with a separate installer. Please be aware that side-by-side installation of the same Automation Builder version in 64-bit and 32-bit is not possible.

The 32-bit version is required for:

  • Migration of AC500 V2 libraries to AC500 V3
  • IEC 61131 programming of ACS880 Drives

The reason for this recommendation is that Automation Builder versions prior to 2.6 have not been prepared for side-by-side installation.
