ABB reduces lead time for gas analyzers for Green Hydrogen industry to three weeks

Interview | September 12, 2024

ABB has lowered its lead times for the gas analyzers Magnos and Caldos in order to meet demands from industrial customers such as Green Hydrogen producers. We talked to Ben Goossens, Global Product Line Market Manager, ABB Measurement & Analytics, about the recent improvement.

How significant is this step for ABB and for the market?

Long lead times can be a real challenge for customers. Companies operate in a fast-paced environment where short timelines have become extremely important. The time between placing an order and receiving the final product plays a crucial role in meeting customer demands and staying competitive in the market. We are constantly exploring strategies to optimize lead times. I am thrilled that we can now offer a lead time of three weeks for our Magnos and Caldos analyzers. This is a great way to serve our customers better and definitely gives us a winning advantage.

Who will benefit from this improvement?

Our industrial customers will benefit the most and especially customers in the Green Hydrogen industry. The Magnos and Caldos analyzers are the typical analyzers we provide to the Green Hydrogen industry. They measure oxygen and hydrogen levels, two components that are compulsory in the production of Green Hydrogen, by using electrolyzers splitting the water into oxygen and hydrogen with renewable electricity. And with our EL3000 series, we can even combine them into a single housing.

This is good news overall as Green Hydrogen is crucial for decarbonizing the most energy intensive sectors, including industrial and chemical processes, power and transport. Green Hydrogen production requires analyzers for accurate monitoring and control of the hydrogen electrolysis production processes. Our gas analyzers are proven to be safe, efficient and reliable for both hydrogen production and downstream processes.

What are the lead times for other ABB gas analyzers?

We can now make the EL3000 with Magnos28 and Caldos27 with a lead time of three weeks. The lead time for AO2000 with Magnos28, Caldos25 and Caldos27 is four weeks. These lead times are applicable for all new orders.

For EL3060, the hazardous area champion, we have a lead time of ten weeks. All the other analyzer modules like e.g. Uras26, Limas and Fidas come with a different but market competitive lead times. The lead time for the AO2000 System and ACF5000 is still our normal 12-week lead time.
