To ensure fast and easy commissioning and minimize the associated costs, the Relion® 611 series protection relays are delivered as pre-configured solutions. To further minimize engineering time, ABB now introduces significant usability improvements in the 611 series web-based human-machine interface (web-HMI), when the relay is commissioned and while performing routine testing or examining primary faults in the grid. To further ensure fast and easy engineering, no additional tools are required to start using the relays of the series.
ABB's Relion relays offer protection, control, measurement and supervision for power systems. To ensure interoperable and future-proof solutions, these products have been designed to implement the core values of the IEC 61850 communication standard. The 611 series is now extended to include support also for Edition 2 of the IEC 61850 standard, which brings optimal interoperability of substation automation devices.
The 611 series has wide application coverage - offering dedicated feeder, motor and busbar protection. The new release expands the series further, introducing a new dedicated relay, the REU611 for substation busbar voltage and frequency protection.
To further broaden the series, ABB now launches support for distributed generation also in this series. The feeder relay REF611 now has an additional configuration, which is especially suitable for distributed generation. This new configuration offers directional over-current and directional earth fault protection and also frequency, power and energy measurements.
