Sensi+ use cases and applications

Q. What is the primary application (use case) of Sensi+?

A. Sensi+ analyzer is ideal to accurately measure trace levels of H2S, H2O and CO2 in natural gas streams in the upstream and midstream segments. Thanks to its quick response time (less than 10 seconds), Sensi+ can detect rise of contaminants resulting of process upsets before they reach the pipeline, allowing for stream redirection.

To know more about the quick response time of Sensi+, download this white paper.

Q. What is the gas matrix for sensi plus?

A. Sensi+ is intended to measure trace level of contaminants in natural gas. The background gas (or gas matrix) must be as per table below:

 Natural gas

Q. Is Sensi+ suitable for biogas (biomethane) applications?

A. Indeed! In biogas applications, the background gas (or gas matrix) must be as per table below:

Renewable natural gas

Q. What about hydrogen in natural gas? Does it affect the operation?

A. Sensi+ measurement performance are specified with up to 5% of hydrogen in the background gas. We are currently working on raising this bar, good news should be announced very soon.

Sensi+ features and performance

Q. What is the minimum detectable limit MDL of each component?

A. As shown in the spec sheet, the minimum detectable limit (MDL) or Minimum detectable change (MDC) is as follows:

Minimum detectable change

Q. Will the analyzer have cross sensitivity with Mercaptans?

A. Sensi+ does not have interference with Mercaptans. You can know more about cross-interference by downloading this white paper.

Q. Sensi+ displays a QR Code on one of the pages. What is it for?

A. Sensi+ displays 2 QR Codes. The first one links the user to My Measurement Assistant (MMA) page for this analyzer, giving access to documentation, user manual, list of available spare parts, etc. The second QR Code is dynamic and will generate a report on status and health condition of the analyzer. This feature will be deployed on the next software release planned for early 2025.

Q. Is there any local memory for data and trends which can be exported?

A. Sensi+ stores all data points for a period of 3 months. Data can be exported through the remote interface.

Sensi+ service and maintenance

Q. What consumables does Sensi+ require?

A. Sensi+ doesn’t require any consumable. No carrier gas, no scrubber, no tape, no lamp, nothing!

Q. How often is a calibration necessary on Sensi+? Can it be done on site, or must the analyzer be returned to factory?

A. Sensi+ is calibrated at Factory. The analyzer is very stable over a long period of time and the drift after a full year of operation is so small that no calibration is required. Want to see the data for yourself? Download the white paper.

We recommend to periodically validate that Sensi+ is still measuring accurately. By using the Validation Mode and a certified reference gas bottle, you can confirm if a calibration is needed. If so, it can be done on site, minimizing the down time.

Q. How many pumps are inside Sensi? How often should they be replaced? Can pump replacement be done in the field?

A. Sensi+ has 3 pumps and they work one at a time. They periodically swap so they are used about evenly. If one pump stop working, the two others will seamlessly keep going to insure normal analyzer operation. The lifetime of the pump assembly is about 3 years. The pump assembly can be replaced on site, no need to return the analyzer for service.
