Cabinet-built general purpose drive. Power range from 75 to 500 kW with IP42 protection class as standard.

The ACS580 medium voltage drive from 200 to 6300 kW, from 6 to 11 kV

New features for food and beverage applications

Cooling compressor control
Anti-cavitation
Ammonia resistance
The food and beverage software package for ACS580 (+N8057) consists of two parts and combines best-in-class drive technology.

The first part of the package is a dedicated software for cooling compressors. This software makes it easier to commission and use the drive, offering multi-compressor control and providing average energy savings of 20-40% compared to running in DOL mode.

The second part of the F&B software package for ACS580 (+N8057) is an anti-cavitation feature.

Cavitation is caused by local pressure changes in a liquid, creating vapor bubbles
that can damage the pump and process when the vapor bubbles implode.
In addition, cavitation can also cause unplanned downtime, production losses
and even harm the end product.

The anti-cavitation feature helps avoid shock waves in liquid, enabling quality of the end product and reliable pump operations.

Mitigating cavitation with ABB drives

Ammonia, which can be found in critical amounts in barns, has a corrosive effect on variable speed drives.

The +C219 option enables ammonia resistance not only for the control board, but also for the entire drive. This robust design prevents unplanned downtime while providing an extended lifetime*.

*At the moment this feature is available on frames R1-R9.
