Process performance induction motors

Synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM)

The synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor is a three-phase electric motor with a magnetically anisotropic rotor structure. The rotor in a synchronous reluctance motor has no magnets or windings and suffers virtually no power losses. Synchronous reluctance technology combines the performance of permanent magnet motors with induction motors, without the use of rare earth metals.

ABB Permanent magnet motors

The permanent magnet motor range extends the effective nominal speed range of the rugged industry workhorses down to 100 – 850 r/min. The motors can simplify drive systems by effectively eliminating the need of speed reduction devices. They are designed exclusively for frequency converter supply, where they provide high speed accuracy even without speed sensors because they are synchronous motors without rotor slip.

ABB Water-cooled motors

Water cooled motors ensure maximum reliability combined with a compact installation footprint for on-shore and offshore applications and industries. Water cooling is a highly efficient method of transferring heat away from the motor. Typical water cooled motor applications include thruster and propulsion motors, wind turbine generators, water and waste water pumps, tunnel-boring machines, extruders, printing presses and paper machines.
