The downloadable Demo VM can be used to demonstrate all 800xA functionalities. The new "Live presentation" mode is available, enabling people to demonstrate in a quick manner "What's new in v6", among other features in 800xA. It can be sued together with the "Demo use Cases" for detailed demonstration of specific scenarios. Finally, more experienced users can have it as test environment for 800xA functionalities.

Standard Demo with optional Hardware Case
The Standard Demo with hardware case (optional) supports Control Builder applications to be downloaded to a real controller and includes multiple fieldbus technologies including Profibus, HART, FF with real I/O and instruments.This is the best tool to demonstrate the capabilities of System 800xA in an easy and fuss-free manner.

Automation Arena is an experience that takes you through a story of a typical plant and the problems that they are having. Namely unplanned shutdowns, retiring workforce issues, and dealing with silo’d organizations that are having trouble working together. Using either one or two Extended Operator Workplace (EOW) architecture, a host then shows how these problems can be solved through a live demonstration in a unique and interactive "experience".

In a continuous plant setting, process alarms occur during production in a reactor and the operator needs to troubleshoot this abnormal situation before it impacts production. This demo shows a good overview of various navigation, user interface, and basic DCS features as well as “Extended Automation” capabilities. This use case is good for demonstrating Operator Effectiveness.

Plants incur losses in any maintenance situation. Preventive and predictive maintenance can minimize these losses. This use case shows how integrated Asset Optimization will increase productivity with effective diagnostic of various equipment connected to a modern DCS system solution to maximize preventive and predictive maintenance. 800xA supports evolution of existing ABB control systems and integration of third party DCS and PLC systems. 800xA provides connectivity packages for this integration. These connectivity packages include templates of object types with graphic elements, faceplates, alarm and event handling etc. Thus enabling easy integration of control systems. For a plant to sustain smooth operations, effective alarm management is crucial. Alarm Management has alarm system KPI’s (Alarm Analysis) for monitoring the worst alarms in the plant. 800xA supports Alarm Management life cycle as defined by ISA-18.2 which allows for implementation of effective alarm management strategies. This use case is good for demonstrating 800xA’s superior Alarm Management capabilities.

This Use Case shows one common Operator Workplace for both process and power automation.
