The ABB MNS M10x motor manager is the perfect solution for MNS motor control centers. Designed as a one-size-fits-all unit to be installed even in the smallest MNS modules for space efficient designs, it complies with the stringent requirement on modern motor management. Universal Motor Controller UMC100.3

The UMC100.3 is the allrounder for your motor control and protection application. Whether centralized in MNS or distributed through final distribution boards, it monitors and protects the motors using the needed extension units while integrated in automation systems through various selectable communication protocols. Additionally, it integrates in the low voltage switchgear condition monitoring CMES to detect any abnormal condition at the earliest.

PSTX Softstarters offer complete motor protection and are able to handle both load and network irregularities. PT-100, earth fault protection and over/under voltage protection along with many other functions keep your motor safer than ever.

Reliable operations
It’s time to use your processes to their full potential. Beside soft motor starting and reduction of inrush currents, the PSTX features torque control, standstill brake, dynamic brake, motor heating, pump cleaning, underload, and lock rotor protections to securing uptime of your system.

Flexible communication
Built-in Modbus for main communication to control systems and also to ABB Ability CMES condition monitoring.
As an option, all major communication protocols such as Modbus RTU, Profibus, Profinet etc. are available.

Digital Gateway for MNS

The Digital Gateway in MNS MCC application ensures the most efficient and flexible communication to your automation systems. Rather than having 128 motor controller communicating to the automation system, a single device handles the task and is also available in redundant configuration for higher availability. Thus, automation interfaces are simplified to reduce costs of infrastructure.

Single interface to automation and condition monitoring
The Digital Gateway connects to up to 128 devices in the MCC, data are accumulated, and needed data are sent through a single interface to the automation system, thus simplifying the communication. Standard protocols such as Modbus and Profibus are available.

Reliable operations
A local touch panel MView allows to access all data from the MCC. Testing and commissioning is possible through a convenient interface. Also, when replacing a motor starter, parameter settings are simply downloaded from the gateway without the need to use sophisticated parametering tools for faster replacement.

Flexible communication
Built-in Modbus for main communication to all devices in the switchgear. The communication to automation systems is by Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus while the ABB Ability CMES can be connected easily through Ethernet. Redundant configuration with hot/standby gateways is enabling higher availability.

Variable speed drives

Built on ABB’s common drive platform for precision control, the ACS880 series of variable speed drives is build for a wide range of motor applications such as cranes, extruders, winches, winders, conveyors, mixers, compressors, pumps and fans. Integrated within the MNS MCC assembly or installed as standalone devices, it integrates not only into the automation systems but also the ABB Ability CMES for condition monitoring.
