Antonis Asimakopoulos

Antonis holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and joined ABB S.A. in 2004 as project, commissioning engineer in automation systems for some of the biggest land based industries in Greece. Some years later, 2010, he changed position to sales engineer for Marine Industry. Today he is Marine Service Manager for Greece & Cyprus and Global Product Manager for Energy Efficiency & Performance Monitoring.

Sami Kanerva

Dr. Sami Kanerva has more than 20 years of experience in technology and product management positions, specialized in electrical power applications and system integration. He received his D.Sc. (Tech.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology in 2005, and since then intensively worked on various technology concepts with renewable energy and marine segments. Sami has conducted development of marine fuel cell solutions in ABB since 2017 and currently holds the Global Product Manager position at ABB Marine & Ports division.

Michael joined ABB Marine & Ports in February 2012. Before joining ABB, he worked in leading positions in Denmark and abroad in the maritime industry in companies like Hempel, Lyngsø Marine and DMA. Michael has developed an extensive network and know-how about the industry’s needs over a number of years.

Prof. George Dimopoulos, Ph.d
Scientific Advisor

George Dimopoulos is an Associate Professor in the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is also a scientific advisor to DNV’s maritime advisory and R&D units. His field of expertise is the modelling and optimization of ship energy systems with a focus on novel ship machinery concepts and technologies, decarbonization solutions and performance improvement methods applied in all ship segments, including oil tankers, bulk carriers, gas carriers and FSRUs. He is lead researcher or project manager in various R&D, ship concept design and advisory projects working closely with major Greek and international ship owners, yards and manufacturers. He holds a PhD. in optimizations' methods for ship energy systems engineering from NTUA. George has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers in scientific conferences and journals.
