FIM Bridge PROFINET is an FDI Communication server and allows FIM access to PROFINET devices.

The FIM Bridge PROFINET is a windows service. A failing start of the FIM Bridge PROFINET service will leave a message in the application event log of the operating system.

Configuration Change of the Connect Service
If the configuration of the Connect Service has changed, a restart of the computer or server node running the Connect Service is required. Only by doing so, it can be ensured that the recent changes are taken over.
This is explicitly required if e.g. the IP configuration of the network adapter (that is assigned to the FIM Bridge PROFINET service) has changed.

Setup Instructions

FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 is used typically in a standalone / handheld scenario because it is based on serial communication. It is listed as a Remote Communication Server due to the required certificate exchange between bridge and Field Information Manager.

Please ensure:

  • that an RS232-to-USB adapter is available which connects the computer to the ABB Sensyflow FMT700-P or FMT200-ECO2 field device.
  1. Install FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 using the Field Information Manager Installer.
  2. Communication between Field Information Manager Server and FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 requires the exchange of certificates on both ends.
  3. Navigate to the directory "C:\ProgramData\ABB\FIM Bridge SensyFlow FMT/own" and find the certificate of FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2. This certificate is required on the Field Information Manager Client.
  4. Start the Field Information Manager Client, navigate to Tools Menu - OPTIONS - CLIENT/SERVER SETTINGS - TRUSTED CERTIFICATES. Click the "Add certificate" button, specify a name (e.g. of the Sensyflow FMT Communication Server) and browse for the previously identified certificate of the bridge. Click the ADD button and the FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 certificate is listed as trusted.
  5. Navigate to OWN CERTIFICATE within the open options menu of Field Information Manager Client. Select the own tool certificate, click the "Export selected certificate" button and specify a file location. This certificate is required in FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2.
  6. Navigate to the directory "C:\ProgramData\ABB\FIM Bridge SensyFlow FMT/trusted" and insert the previously exported certificate.
  7. Ensure that the local firewall allows to use communication port 32700 for FIM Bridge
    Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 application.
  8. Open the Windows Services console via Windows Search or command line "Services.msc". Browse for "ABB FIM Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2" service and start it.
  9. Add Communication Server in a Field Information Manager Client:
    • In Topology view use Add Server button from top bar.
    • Select ABB FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 from the list of available connectivities.
    • If required, adjust the name with which it will appear in topology.
    • Enter the IP of the ABB FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2.
    • If the port of the ABB FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 has been changed, adjust the port in the dialog.
    • Accept the dialog via ADD.
  10. Access the new ABB FIM Bridge Sensyflow FMT700-P / FMT200-ECO2 communication server object in FIM Topology and start a Hardware Scan via Context Menu of the tile.
  11. Delete the generated and exported certificates to avoid misuse by others.
Select region / language
