Welcome to ABB Marine customer Days 2026! It’s dedicated to the future of maritime operations, where innovation, sustainability and operational excellence meet.
The maritime industry is undergoing rapid transformation. Welcome addresses

Atle will wish customers welcome in Bergen and Oslo.

Atle has almost 20 years of experience at ABB Marine Service. He started off in 2007 as Propulsion Control Commissioning Engineer for Dual-fuel LNG Tankers built in shipyards in South-Korea. From there Atle went into a role as Global Responsible for ABB Marine Remote Diagnostic Services. His management career started in 2013 as Field Service Manager, a role that was combined with Site Management in Samsung Heavy Industries from 2014 to 2017. During this period, responsible for the Commissioning Team delivering LNG tankers and Drillships delivered by SHI. Atle currently hold the position of Head of Service & Digital – Norway, responsible for full life cycle services for our ABB Norway customers.

Arthur Solvåg has more than 30 years of experience in the maritime industry, spanning technical, commercial, and leadership roles. He began his career in the 1980s as an apprentice at Kleven Mek Verksted (now Green Yard Kleven) before moving into sales in 1996 at Volda Mek, selling gears and propellers.

From 1997 to 2007, he held several key roles at Rolls‑Royce, including Sales Manager Offshore E&P, Procurement Manager, and General Manager for the Merchant business stream.

Arthur joined ABB in 2007 and has since held multiple sales leadership positions within Marine Systems and Compact Azipod. He currently serves as Head of Global Sales – Energy Segment in ABB Marine Systems, responsible for driving global sales strategy and supporting customers in advancing energy‑efficient marine solutions.

Katarina is Sales Manager at ABB Marine & Ports, specializing in ABB’s Azipod® and Dynafin™ propulsion solutions. She works closely with shipyards to support them in evaluating and selecting ABB’s solutions for newbuild projects. At Norway Customer Days, Katarina shares insights on ABBs latest developments for bringing successful propulsion projects to life.

Kasper De Ruyck serves as Sales Manager for Marine Propulsion at ABB, bringing over ten years of maritime and engineering expertise to the role. His career began at sea after completing maritime officers' school and later continued ashore, where he earned a Master's degree in Marine Engineering from Delft University of Technology before he joined Damen Shipyards. After gaining valuable shipbuilding experience at Damen, Kasper joined ABB in 2015 as Warranty Manager at the Azipod(r) factory in China, relocating to Finland in 2019 to join the marine propulsion sales team. His hands-on maritime experience, technical knowledge, and commercial expertise enable him to deliver tailored propulsion solutions with technical insight.

Remote assistance and diagnostic solutions

ABB Ability™ Marine Remote Diagnostic System (RDS) is a diagnostic tool and data hub providing troubleshooting and condition monitoring solutions for electrical and mechanical systems. 
The core of the system is a dedicated monitoring and diagnostics platform for collection, storage and analysis of data from individual components, sub-systems and complete integrated solutions. To address the individual needs of each vessel, the RDS system is completely modular.

These systems are installed onboard with remote assistance for the Global 24/7 Technical Support Center.

Fredrik is Head of Sales – Marine Service and Digital in Norway. He has 17 years of experience at ABB Marine & Ports in different roles in the service organization. 

Leading strategic sales and modernization initiatives across the marine and energy sector. With commercial insight and practical technical understanding, he works closely with shipowners, yards, and global teams to deliver reliable, future‑focused solutions and long‑term value for customers.

As maritime decarbonization becomes more urgent, and more and more vessel types embrace electric power, Onboard DC grid gives you the flexibility you need. It enables efficient and safe integration of variable speed combustion engines on multiple fuels and the integration of large batteries and Fuel Cell Systems.
 
Hans Fredrik is educated at Trondheim Maritime Høyskole and has been working in the maritime industry for more than 35 years and has been at ABB for 13 of these. Hans Fredrik has worked as a ship electrician, with engineering, commissioning and project management. But the majority of the career with sales of electrical systems for the maritime industry as a main focus.

From Concept to Operation: Integrating Large-Scale Energy Storage in Hybrid and Electric Vessels
 
 As the maritime industry accelerates toward electrification, integrating large-scale battery systems presents unique engineering challenges from design through operation. This presentation explores the complete journey from initial concept to operational reality.
Main point that could be covered:
• Operational Profiling & Technology Selection – Understanding vessel duty cycles and the iterative process to match battery technology and capacity to the expected vessel operation profile
• Technical Integration Challenges – Addressing the complexities of installing multi-megawatt hour battery systems into the electrical architecture, including short circuit protection and common mode voltage
• Lifetime Operation & Maintenance – Managing battery performance through continuous monitoring, calibration strategies, and predictive maintenance to ensure reliability throughout the vessel's service life

Petter has 15 years of experience in the marine industry, including sea time as a ship electrician. He has worked with commissioning, service and remove support operations (RDS – remote diagnostic systems). Petter has experience with modernization, upgrades and extension of marine power systems as well as customizing ABB’s modular DC grid platform to customers’ needs. He also works on the solution design of ABB’s next generation power systems.
