Following a long-standing relationship between ABB Electrification and IMELCO, the international corporation has recognized ABB’s efforts in introducing new business opportunities with a Global Supplier Award.
Key to this recognition was the efforts made by ABB to strengthen its collaboration with IMELCO in the e-mobility sector.
The e-mobility sector is experiencing unprecedented growth. Today there are more than 10 million electric car drivers around the world, up from approximately 13,000 just over 10 years ago.
But with the transport sector still accounting for 27-29% of all emissions, it is clear that much more needs to be done to further advance e-mobility adoption. It is estimated that an investment of approximately $590 bn is needed in EV charging infrastructure by 2040 to meet global emissions targets.
ABB’s partnership with key global distributors, such as IMELCO members, are therefore critical in helping to support the higher rate of infrastructure roll out which is required.
Co Braber, IMELCO President, commented: “The focus of IMELCO lies on reliable, loyal and supportive market leading partners. ABB is a perfect match for us in this. We recognize ABB’s forward-looking strategy and their desire to tap the potential of new market opportunities in collaboration with IMELCO members across the globe. Our current cooperation on e-mobility is an example of this great partnership”.
Massimo Lattuada, IMELCO Group Account Manager at ABB added: “We believe in the power of together; that when innovation and collaboration come together we can collectively contribute to mitigating the impacts of climate change and enable a lower carbon society.
“Collaboration with key channel partners is key in supporting our ongoing success as a global leader in EV charging infrastructure. We are delighted to be working so closely with the IMELCO team on solutions for fleet, destination and residential charging and look forward to our ongoing work together in powering e-mobility forward.”
IMELCO is the international marketing group of independent electrical wholesale companies in Europe, Australia, Russia and the US.
