ABB today announced the acquisition of the industrial instrumentation business of Italy-based Terman '90 S.r.l., located near Milan. The acquisition supports the expansion of ABB`s product portfolio with thermal detection instrumentation for power and distribution transformers.
Terman designs and produces high-quality oil and winding temperature monitoring devices used by transformer manufacturers globally, and is a well-recognized name in the transformer industry. The acquisition complements ABB's existing portfolio for transformer components.
"This is a `bolt-on` acquisition in line with our business strategy, and will strengthen our transformer components offering," said Markus Heimbach, head of ABB`s global transformer business. "We are very pleased to welcome Terman to the ABB family," Heimbach added. "The high-quality products developed and manufactured by the Terman team will achieve global reach through ABB sales channels, and give our customers access to a wider portfolio from a single source."
