ABB provides a comprehensive overview of each drive’s life cycle, as well as the operating conditions of all drives at one of the largest cement group in Indonesia, Semen Bosowa at Maros Plant, Makassar, South Sulawesi.
Bosowa Cement Group is the fourth largest cement group in Indonesia and the only national private cement company in the country. Bosowa produces Portland Cement type 1 with a production capacity of 4.3 million tons/year. It has two production lines with activity areas covering throughout Indonesia and exports to various countries in Asia and Africa. ABB Drives are already operated at the plant. Some of it are ACS600, ACS800, SAMISTAR, ACS2000, and DCS500 for the main kiln.
Semen Bosowa was aware that the lifecycle status of all of existing ABB Drives IB, but do not have enough allocated budget to migrate the obsolete units. In 2019, Semen Bosowa started to experience lower productivity and the Maros plant was not running in full capacity, while the cement market was demanding at that time. It led Semen Bosowa to partner with ABB in providing ABB Ability™ Life Cycle Assessment report for the whole ABB Drives IB, three sets of retrofit kits of ACS880-10755 to retrofit SAMISTAR drives. The commissioning was performed partially and completely done in January 2021.
ABB Ability™ Life Cycle Assessment provides efficienct tools to collect, analyze and identify the current status of the drives currently installed at Maros plant. The service provides information about each drives‘ technical usage, environment, maintenane history, and many more. With this, it helps Semen Bosowa to identify the life cycle needs of each drive. It includes recommendations for spare parts, upgrades, retrofits and replacements, and also assigns maintenance priorities.
“We have a great cooperation with Semen Bosowa. In this project, our engineering team is available to consult and help to give supreme yet tailored maintenance plan to meet Semen Bosowa’s requirement,“ said Wiwiet Yuniarto, Drives Service Manager, Motion.
The next project is planned to replace DCS500 with DCS800-A01-2500-06 and expected to roll out this March 2021.
