ABB has expanded its popular range of Sentry safety relays to include spring-loaded push-in terminals for faster and more effective tool-free installation.
Reducing installation by 50 percent compared to regular spring-loaded connectors, the new tool-free relay terminals also improve the quality of the electrical connection by removing human error during installation and maintenance.
Install push-in relays twice as fast as traditional alternatives
Using detachable terminal blocks speeds up connection and replacement to save valuable time and labor costs during installation. These relay terminals are designed to handle both ferruled and rigid cables, both of which can be easily pushed into the terminals by hand.
Powerful outputs are also available to drive loads up to 6 A and simplify installation by saving the use of an intermediary contactor. Furthermore, the ABB push-in Sentry safety relays are easy to set to manual or automatic reset using the easy and accessible switch.
Better cable connection guaranteed
Relays using traditional terminals require a screwdriver during installation, which is not only time consuming, but also introduces a window of tolerance that is dependent on each installer. Using a screwdriver to tighten the terminal around the cable, means that cables can be tightened too much, or not enough, which can lead to a faulty connection and unreliable performance. With tool-free, push-in relay terminals, an optimal cable connection is guaranteed, even when installed by a junior installer with little to no training.
Gustav Örnstedt, Global Product Manager for ABB Smart Power comments:
“Our customers are always looking for ways to optimize their business, which can often be achieved by minimizing installation and maintenance times. Simple modifications like choosing products that offer tool-free installations and a subsequent 50 percent reduction in installation time, is a positive step in the right direction.
Not only do our new tool-free, push-in Sentry safety relay terminals offer a much faster installation, they also deliver a more reliable cable connection which will reduce the required maintenance and routine wire checks throughout the product life cycle.”
Continuous operation
The tool-free, push-in Sentry safety relay terminals from ABB form part of a complete motor starting and safety offering, centered around state-of-the-art functionality that promotes optimal performance.
The advanced timer functions boast an accuracy rating of ± 1% which minimizes unnecessary downtime, and the multi-reset function enables reset of up to 10 Sentry safety relays using just one reset button.
Some models in the range use a LED display, which allows for more status messages and significantly simpler trouble shooting. These models offer preset configurations and extensive fault information.
The Sentry safety relay range
The Sentry series contains both basic models for simple applications and easy output expansion, as well as highly flexible universal models with extremely accurate timer functionality.
ABB’s Sentry safety relays provide an ideal solution in safety applications when safety devices need to be monitored according to the requirements of functional safety standards.
