ABB Ability™ Energy Management System poised to help German industrials unlock energy efficiency funding

Think global, act local. ABB is a global technology company that supports decarbonization in the process industries on a worldwide scale. Key to our global approach is our connection to the local communities where we and our customers operate. In this spirit, ABB is proud to announce that the ABB Ability Energy Management System is now listed on the German BAFA List of Eligible Energy Management Software (Module 3: MSR, sensors and energy management software).

BAFA – the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control – provides funding to German individuals and businesses to perform energy efficiency upgrades. To access funding, BAFA requires that companies gain/maintain ISO 50001 certification, which is an international standard to enable organizations to establish the systems and processes necessary to continually improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy use, and energy consumption (Check out our Guide to ISO 50001 to learn more about the certification).

Energy management software is an integral part of an ISO 50001-certified energy management program, so BAFA maintains a list of energy management software products that are eligible for funding. The ABB Ability Energy Management System – ABB’s industrial software offering for monitoring, forecasting, and optimizing energy and emissions data – earned a place on the list as an ISO 50001-certified software.

This listing is an example of the small, yet critical steps ABB is taking to make a tangible difference for our customers at the local level. For our German customers, we look forward to being your partner in digitalization and sustainability by helping you unlock federal funding for energy efficiency.
